Opened in August 1984 by brothers Rick and David Barton, Hunky’s was one of the first non-bar businesses on Cedar Springs to openly cater to LGBTQ+ customers. Four decades later, it is still here — and still serving some of the best burgers in Dallas.
The menu features 23 burger variations, thick milkshakes, and a chrome-and-neon diner aesthetic that channels the 1950s through an 1980s lens. The patio is the social hub of the southern end of the Strip, packed on weekend afternoons and late nights alike.
Sunday drag brunches have become a Cedar Springs institution — family-friendly, loud, and joyful. Hunky’s is also the unofficial last stop of every night out: after the bars close at 2 AM, the line for burgers starts forming. If you only eat one meal on Cedar Springs, make it here.
